well, it was intended to be the replacement for the wheezy Nailhead V8, but was too expensive to justify and they went back to cast iron for the Rocket.
besides, the ad isn’t really wrong; Range Rover engines were fine. the rest of the thing just fell apart around it ;)

that’s true. I forgot Rover was the company who got handed a Honda Legend and still managed to fuck it up.

The head gasket and liner issues only really started to completely run away with the jump to a bigger bore size. Before that, it wasn’t *necessarily* a literally-every-engine problem.
